Today at the Xbox Media Briefing, we got our first true look at just-announced Anthem‘s gameplay.
Anthem is the latest title from Bioware and their first new IP since Dragon Age: Origins in 2009. In Anthem, players are part of the Freelancers, a group of people willing to leave the safety of civilization and work to explore and conquer the shared open-world. At any given time, up to four players can suit up together in exosuits called Javelins. Each Javelin is equipped with weapons and abilities that can be tailored to an individual’s play style. Anthem is a third-person RPG shooter that also allows players to dive through the air and swim in the waters of it’s world. A gameplay demo was also on display and is in the video above.
Despite being shown at the Xbox Media Briefing, it appears that Anthem will not be exclusive to the Xbox One family of consoles. Instead, the RPG will be releasing on PS4 and PC as well. As far as what each platform’s benefits will be, the Xbox One X is the only one that has been detailed so far.
Anthem is slated to release in the Fall of 2018 with enhancements being provided by the Xbox One X including true 4K resolution and High Dynamic Range.
