Bethesda has doubled down on VR experiences involving two of its biggest franchises: DOOM and Fallout.
At last year’s Bethesda E3 Showcase, we first learned that Bethesda was working on a VR experience for Fallout 4. Overnight at this year’s E3 Showcase, Bethesda showed a trailer for Fallout 4 VR, set to release this October with only HTC Vive being supported on PC. Bethesda promises that the entirety of the original game will be available to explore in VR.
Fallout 4 VR wasn’t alone though, as DOOM VFR was announced and seen for the first time. DOOM VFR is being developed by the legendary studio at id Software coming later this year to HTC Vive and PlayStation VR. This isn’t a complete remake of the hit 2016 title but does add gameplay by casting the player as an AI Construct that players can transfer the consciousness of the Construct into various devices for both combat and puzzle solving.
