At PlayStation’s E3 2017 Showcase, God of War had an extended trailer showcasing combat and some of the mature tone that appears to be central to the story.
The trailer focuses on the journey Kratos will be taking with his son, Atreus. Along the journey, it appears a central focus will be that Kratos is training Atreus to become a warrior with a purpose in hopes it will redeem him for his tormented past. Alongside the emotionally charged scenes, sequences showcasing the hack-and-slash gameplay that God of War is known for were on display. Kratos will be ripping enemies apart and cleaving them just as he always has, albeit with new weapons at his disposal.
Along with a new peek at the game itself, a release window was offered for early 2018. God of War is being developed by PlayStation’s Santa Monica Studio that has been involved in every God of War title to date.
