During Sony’s E3 2017 Press Conference, we learnt of 2 new PSVR titles in development at Supermassive Games, one of which, The Inpatient, appears to be a prequel to another of the studio’s titles – Until Dawn.
At a first glance, it appeared that the trailer was merely showcasing another terrifying outing from a developer known for horror experiences such as Until Dawn and Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. However, upon closer inspection, it appears that The Inpatient is directly linked to the 2015 horror game, more specifically though, its location.
During the trailer, we catch a glimpse of a painting of a building with a sign that reads “Sanitarium“. Fans of Until Dawn will undoubtedly remember a difficult section towards the conclusion of the game that takes place inside a creepy institution riddled with windigos. Although this might have just been a coincidence, closer inspection of the that very same sign proves otherwise. The name of the institution in The Inpatient is called “Blackwood Pines“, the exact same location where Until Dawn takes place.
Later from the video’s description, we learn that The Inpatient, in fact, takes place 60 years before the events of Until Dawn and will be a prequel of some form to the main game of 2015.
The Inpatient is set to release on PSVR sometime in the future.
