Bayonetta and Trials Fusion Headline August Games With Gold

Today Microsoft announced the games that will be part of the Games With Gold program in August of 2017. As always, all the titles are playable on Xbox One, with two being native to Xbox 360 and the other two being native to Xbox One. Players must have an Xbox Live Gold subscription to download these titles as a benefit.

For the entirety of August, Xbox One players can download Slime Rancher, an independant title that previously has been part of the Game Preview lineup but now graduates and launches as part of Games With Gold. In Slime Rancher, players will become Beatrix LeBeau and cultivate a ranch to raise gelatinous creatures known as slimes. The title is also available on Windows PCs, MacOS, and Linux.

Starting on August 16th, Xbox One players can also download Trials Fusion from Ubisoft. A sequel to Trials Evolution, the series sees the player solve environmental puzzles by performing stunts on top of a motocross bike. Shifting the rider’s weight is key to solve the puzzles. Up to 4 players can compete locally, or up to 8 can online. Trials Fusion is also available for Windows PCs, Xbox 360, and PS4. Trials Fusion will be available until September 15th.

Xbox 360 and Xbox One users will be able to download PlatinumGames’ Bayonetta from August 1st to August 15th. Players take on the role of the shape-shifting witch Bayonetta in a fictional city in Europe. Similar to games like Devil May Cry, combos using her spells, firearms, and more take the action to a fantastical level. Bayonetta is also available on PS3, Wii U, and Windows PCs.

From August 16th to the end of the month, players can download Red Faction Armageddon. Developed by Saints Row studio Volition, Armageddon is currently the last in the Red Faction series. A third-person shooter set underground on Mars, players take on the role of Darius Mason, a freelance miner who is tricked into awakening ancient Martian creatures. Red Faction Armageddon also released on Windows PCs and PS3. The announcement of Armageddon being part of the Games With Gold program also makes it new to the Backwards Compatibility program.

Most regions will receive these titles, but availability in some countries can alter what titles are offered. Right now, players can still download Lego Pirates of the CaribbeanGrow Up, and Runbow as part of the Games With Gold program.

Stephen has been an avid gamer for nearly 25 years, fighting alongside caped crusaders, Jedi, and biotic Asari along the way. He likes to try new things but frequently comes back to Overwatch.
