Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was the best-selling console game of 2016 on a global scale, according to Activision.
A report recently in from Market Research and Analysis group NPD shows Infinite Warfare to have been the biggest selling title of 2016 in the U.S, narrowly beating Battlefield 1, with the publisher self-proclaiming the space shooter to be the best selling title globally. The latest accolade completes a significant turnaround for the futuristic FPS, which got off to a far less than positive start with the release of its reveal trailer last year.
With the latest report, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare becomes the seventh Call of Duty title to top the yearly chart standings from the last 8 franchise entries.
“Call of Duty is the #1 console franchise worldwide in 2016,” said Eric Hirshberg, Activision CEO. ”
“We’re thankful to our players for once again putting Call of Duty on top, and we recognize how rare this is – to do year after year. That’s why we push to deliver innovations and incredible gameplay that are worthy of the best fans in the world time and again. And we have an exciting year ahead in 2017.”
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available now for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
