Capcom has announced that PS2-era favorite Okami will be getting a new HD release this December 12th.
Okami tells the tale of Amaterasu, a Shinto sun goddess that takes the form of a white wolf to save the land from darkness. The game takes great inspiration from Japanese tales, art, and folklore, going so far as to employ an art style reminiscent of sumi-e, or ink wash paintings. Okami originally released in April of 2006 on the Playstation 2, but has been ported over the years to the Wii, and PS3.
Capcom’s announcement will add three new platforms to that list with Okami HD coming to Xbox One, PS4, and Windows PCs. Players will be able to play in both widescreen and the original 4:3 aspect ratio, and this release sees the return of loading screen mini-games that were missing from the Wii and PS3 ports. Lastly, on certain PC hardware, PS4 Pro, and the Xbox One X, Okami HD will be available in 4K. The port will be priced at $19.99, £15.99, and €19.99.
