Destiny 2 has become the biggest launching video game of 2017.
Released this past Wednesday, Bungie’s follow-up to the 2014 smash hit shooter has rocketed straight to No.1 in the latest GFK Chart-Track standings for UK boxed sales, with 58% of its sales coming from PS4 and 42% attributed to Xbox One.
By comparison Destiny 2‘s sales are down 58% on Destiny, though with Bungie reporting 1.2 million concurrent players, a shift to digital sales would appear the reason for the decline in sales. It’s also worth noting that sales for Destiny were far closer in 2014 with 51% for PS3 and PS4 and 49% to Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
As a result of Destiny 2‘s storming debut, last week’s No.1 Uncharted: The Lost Legacy falls a single place to accommodate the shooter after 2 weeks spent on top. Elsewhere, promotions largely dominate this week’s charts with Xbox One S bundles for Forza Horizon 3 lifting the racer to No.3 Fallout 4 climbs 9 places to No.4, Dishonored 2 is up 9 places from No.17 to No.8 and bloody shooter DOOM shifts 10 places to No.9.
New entries this week include Sony exclusive Knack II which debuts at No.12, Capcom’s Monster Hunter Stories in at No.21 and a re-release of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ for Nintendo Switch arriving at No.36.
