It’s no big secret that Grand Theft Auto V has been a very popular and profitable title for Rockstar Games following its initial release in 2013, and now publisher Take-Two has revealed that overall sales for the fifth main series installment have passed 85 million.
Publisher Take-Two revealed the milestone in its second-quarter report for the fiscal year ended March 2018. Given the popularity of the game and series as a whole, it’s unsurprising to learn that even four years on from its original release on PS3 and Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V isn’t running out of steam and continues to rake in the big bucks.
In fact, this year alone over 10 million units of Grand Theft Auto V have been shifted, with the game topping the charts in the United States where it is now the best-selling game of all time for physical and digital sales.
Releases for Xbox One, PS4 and PC followed in 2014 and 2015 respectively, with Grand Theft Auto V returning to the top of the UK boxed charts again as recently as June of this year.
