Bayonetta 2 and Platinum Games Producer, Atsushi Inaba “would like to make” a third title in the popular series.
Speaking at the recent BitSummit held in Japan, Inaba who worked alongside Hitoshi Yamagami on Platinum Games’ direct sequel to the 2009 hack ‘n’ slash action title confessed to wanting to make a third game in the series.
“I would like to make Bayonetta 3“, said the Producer in an interview with SourceGaming.
Following Bayonetta‘s recent successful port to PC, rumours began to swirl online regarding a possible third addition in the series. Inaba admitted that the studio constantly talks about Bayonetta 3, which according to the Bayonetta 2 Producer might feature an entirely new protagonist.
“Of course, that’s just something that you talk about when you’re making a series – do you want to keep the same protagonist?” explains Inaba. “There’s plenty of precedent for changing protagonists, and so that is something we discuss – do we want to keep the same one, have a different one, add new ones – but that’s certainly not anything I can say for sure at this point.”
Despite Bayonetta releasing on multiple platforms including Xbox 360 and PS3 following its debut in 2009, its sequel, Bayonetta 2 was published by Nintendo and only released on the Wii U console in 2014.
