NetherRealm Studios announced today the next three fighters to join in the Superhero slugfest that is Injustice 2.
The fighters are part of Fighter Pack 2 which will begin to release characters this September 12th. The first character, Aquaman nemesis Black Manta, will release on the same day. Black Manta has had many origin stories in the past, though the common thread is that he was fascinated with Aquaman as a boy and came to despise the oceans when his pleas for Aquaman to help him were not answered. Black Manta’s gameplay will be demoed by NetherRealm on August 27th at twitch.tv/NetherRealm.
The second fighter shown is another guest character from Mortal Kombat, the Thunder-god Raiden. He will join Sub-Zero as representatives of NetherRealm’s classic series. The date for Raiden’s release is unknown at this time. The final character is a guest character as well, and a complete surprise. Hellboy of Dark Horse comics fame is on his way as well. Hellboy was brought to Earth by Nazi Occultists but was taken in by an American scientist who raised him as his own son. Sporting a large hand made of stone and a revolver in the other, Hellboy is not to be taken lightly.
All three characters are expected to release by November, likely one per month as the first three DLC characters were. These new additions raise Injustice 2‘s character count to 35. Owners of the Ultimate Edition of the game will automatically gain these characters for play.
