Just Cause and Assassin’s Creed Headline PS Plus Games for August

Following suit after Xbox announced their Games With Gold, PlayStation has now announced the Instant Game Collection additions set to go live August 1st, 2017.

For PS4 players travel as Rico Rodriguez in Just Cause 3 to Midici, a fictional Mediterranean country currently under dictator rule. Use everything in Rico’s arsenal to lay waste to the occupying forces in this third-person open world title. Combining his grappling hook with a new wing suit, players will be able to traverse the entire region in flashy style. Published by Square Enix, Just Cause 3 is also available on Windows PCs and Xbox One.

Also for PS4 players, become slave-turned-pirate-turned-Assassin Adéwalé in a standalone version of Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry. After being shipwrecked off the coast of Haiti, Adéwalé finds his way to Port-au-Prince and starts a quest with a personal touch to impact the local slave trade. Originally released as DLC to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the standalone version is otherwise only available on Windows PCs.

PS3 players are not left out and have two titles of their own to look forward to. First up, Super Motherlode sees up to 4 players cooperatively drill and mine resources on an alien world. The same title is also available for PS4, but is not available for free at this time. The second title players can expect to see is Snakeball. Originally released in 2007, Snakeball is a 3D reimagining of the classic Snake game. Three main modes are available and up to 8 can play online.

For the Vita and PS4 via cross-buy, Downwell is a roguelike where an ordinary but curious man straps on his gunboots and explores the depths of a local well. How deep can you go before you come up for air? Downwell is also available for Windows PCs, iOS, and Android devices. The other Vita title is Level 22, a stealth title which has you dodging the perils of… work. Yes, Level 22 puts you into the shoes of Gary, an employee who has overslept and has to get to his desk without being seen or risk being fired. Level 22 is also available for PS3 and PS4, but isn’t free with cross-buy.

There you have it, the six new titles that will be available starting August 1st across the Playstation family of devices. July’s collection of titles will be available until the end of the month.

Stephen has been an avid gamer for nearly 25 years, fighting alongside caped crusaders, Jedi, and biotic Asari along the way. He likes to try new things but frequently comes back to Overwatch.
