Could this be our first glimpse at Assassin’s Creed Origins?
Rumours have been swirling online for the past couple few months regarding possible settings, characters and timelines for the next title in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise and today, we may have moved a step closer to the truth with the emergence of a single screenshot.
Earlier today, a screenshot believed to be taken from Assassin’s Creed Origins, the unofficial title for the next Assassin’s Creed game appeared online.
Though arguably not the greatest image quality, the screenshot appears to show the return of popular naval elements, last seen in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, with the protagonist visibly seen steering a ship towards land with the objective ‘Assassinate the Crocodile Follow Shadya to Khenut’s villa‘ seen in the upper left corner.
A quick search shows us that Khenut was an Egyptian Queen during the Fifth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom which would place the game between 2494 and 2345 BC.
According to the insider who shared the image, Origins will feel like a traditional Assassin’s Creed game with Black Flag elements, which could see the return of the much-loved naval combat.
Assassin’s Creed Origins will more than likely be set in Egypt and is expected to be announced at E3 2017.
