Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console in the United States for the month of April, according to the NPD Group, which tracks video game sales data.
With more than 280,000 units sold throughout April, Nintendo Switch was once again the best-selling video game hardware following its record-breaking launch in March.
When combined Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family of systems (68,000 units sold) make up almost half of all hardware sales in April.
Additionally, there was more positive news for Nintendo with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe announced as the top-selling video game in April with more than 460,000 physical units sold.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s digital and retail sales combine to reach over 550,000 units sold, which is all the more impressive when you consider it only launched on April 28th, which only accounts for two days’ worth of sales in the reporting period, with the cut off period being April 29th.
Nintendo will look to continue its positive momentum with Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, ARMS (Nintendo Switch, June 16), Ever Oasis, Splatoon 2 and Hey! Pikmin and Miitopia all set to launch this year.
