Nintendo Switch Online App is Live

The app to be used with the Nintendo Switch for inviting friends to games and for voice chat on smartphones is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The app is launching just in time for use with Splatoon 2, and as such is currently the only title it is compatible with. However, in the future, more titles will be added. At the moment, other Switch users can invite you to play using the friend’s list you already created on your console, or through social media services including Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp.

Currently, the app is also free to use but will require users to pay for the subscription version of Nintendo’s online services when it launches in 2018.

On iOS, the Nintendo Switch Online app requires iOS 9 or later, and will operate on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. On the Android side of things, the app requires at least Android version 4.4 otherwise known as “KitKat”, and is usable on a variety of smartphones and tablets.

Stephen has been an avid gamer for nearly 25 years, fighting alongside caped crusaders, Jedi, and biotic Asari along the way. He likes to try new things but frequently comes back to Overwatch.
