Outlast 2 Won’t take place in Mount Massive Asylum, first teaser image released

In October of last year, developers Red Barrels revealed the first teaser trailer for Outlast 2, the follow-up to the hugely successful 2013 title survival horror game Outlast. The short teaser trailer showed an eerie cross on fire, before turning the camera upside down to reveal that the cross was in fact, inverted, this led to rumors of a Satanic plot for Outlast 2.

Today Red Barrels released the first teaser image for the highly anticipated follow up, which you can view below.

Although the beautifully terrifying image didn’t offer too much into what the back story for Outlast 2 could revolve around Red Barrels did reveal via Twitter that Outlast 2, which is due for release across the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC this fall will not take place inside Mount Massive Asylum or any Asylum for that matter, instead the developers are opting for a new direction and setting.

They also confirmed that Outlast 2 will take place after the events of Reporter Miles Upshur in Outlast and, of course, the games DLC, The Whistleblower.

Outlast 2 is sure to be one of the standout survival horror titles of 2016, we’ll have more information regarding the game as soon as we get it.
