OVERKILL Software’s The Walking Dead has been delayed until the second half of 2018, Starbreeze AB and partner Skybound Entertainment has announced.
Starbreeze had previously announced that the game would be completed by late 2017, but has now postponed the slated 2017 release window to late 2018 in order to allow OVERKILL extended time to develop the game to its full potential.
“We, together with the development of OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead decided to extend the production schedule so that the title will reach their full potential and pursue our original vision a step further,” said Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson Klint.
“Together with Skybound Entertainment we are fully dedicated to releasing an unforgettable experience for fans throughout world and then continue to support it with high quality content in the coming years.”
Additionally, Starbreeze will hold an exclusive Twitch broadcast on May 10th where it will offer more insight into the development of OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead along with an exclusive Payday 2 announcement, news on System Shock 3 and many other titles.
Based on the popular TV series, OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead will be a cooperative game set within Robert Kirkman’s horrifying universe that explores new exclusive characters and storylines. The game will provide great opportunities for replayability through a unique and dynamic level system.
OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead is expected to be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
