JRPG Persona 5 Takes UK Sales Top Spot with Series Biggest Ever Launch

Following glowing reviews and a western release on PS4 and PS3, developer Atlus’s JRPG Persona 5 has taken the No.1 spot in the latest UK video game sales standings.

Representing the biggest UK launch in the series, Persona 5 also becomes the first Japanse RPG to make its debut on top of the all-format charts since Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch in early 2013.

After 2 weeks on top Bioware’s Mass Effect: Andromeda drops 4 places to No.5 after two weeks at the top as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Lego Worlds continue their strange hold inside the top 3.

Following an original release on Wii U way back in 2013, Lego City Undercover‘s arrival on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PS4 sees the brick building title debut at No.8 this week. Other new releases in Week 13 see Gearbox Publishing remaster of Bulletstorm only manage No.23, Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits debut at No.36 while sister title Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls fails entirely to make the top 40.

Better known as RzrsS in the video game scene, Stephan Rodts has been playing video games for nearly his entire life. He started out shooting poor ducks out of the sky in Duck Hunt on the Nintendo, but now shoots everything that moves. Be warned.
