Arkane Studios’ Prey reboot will officially release worldwide on May 5th, 2017 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Bethesda has announced.
Following its original release in 2006, Prey has endured a fruitful and challenging life with a transfer of the games IP to Bethesda Softworks, a direct sequel (Prey 2), developed by Human Head Studios subsequently cancelled, and a change of studios, with Dishonored developer Arkane Studios tasked with creating a reboot of the classic science fiction title.
Prey takes place aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in 2032 where protagonist Morgan Yu awakens to find himself part of a humanity altering experiment gone horribly wrong. In a bid to uncover the truth, Morgan must fight against hostile aliens who now control the space station, surviving through the use of tools, wits, weapons and unique mind-bending abilities in a quest to defeat the Typhon alien.
Bethesda also revealed the pre-purchase incentives for Prey with every pre-order containing an exclusive Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack, Morgan Yu’s family heirloom Margrave shotgun, 3 Neuromods players can spend to acquire new abilities, 2 Medkits, a Fabrication plan to create the Shotgun and Ammo, a starter kit for building tools and weapons, and a unique upgrade to help players preserve their limited resources.
