Sales for Sony’s PS4 were extremely solid over the Christmas period, with over 6.2 units sold, Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced.
As of January 1st, 2017, more than 53.4 million units have been sold globally, taking into account PS4, PS4 Slim and the recently released PS4 Pro, while software sales for the console remains strong over the holiday period with over 50 million copies sold both physically and digitally.
“We are truly grateful for the tremendous support from our fans and partners, which has helped to make this holiday season one of the best in our history,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
“We will aim to continue the momentum this year by broadening the PS4 title portfolio, further enriching the revolutionary gaming experiences on PlayStation VR and high-quality gaming experience on PlayStation4 Pro, while also expanding network services. We will remain steadfast in making the PS4 the best place to play.”
We also learn that sales for Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End have now exceeded 8.7 million copies worldwide.
The PS4 system is currently available in 123 countries.
