612 Games upcoming MMO, Wild West Online grabbed all the headlines last week after a screenshot from the game was mistaken for being Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2.
The off-screen screenshot in question was confirmed to be that of western-themed Wild West Online, a massively multiplayer online game currently in development by developer 612 Games, who earlier today announced that it had received enough investment to side-step a Kickstarter campaign. More so, Wild West Online will not enter Steam Early Access as many titles do, but will instead aim for a full release on PC later this year.
“The community’s response to Wild West Online is something we never imagined, and thanks to it, we’re able to fully develop a robust Western experience for PC,” said Stephan Bugaj, 612’s Creative Creative Officer.
“We’ve been fortunate enough to have our initial investors step up and provide additional funding to make the game we wanted, without having to raise money via crowdfunding. Westerns are lacking on PC, so we can’t wait to release the game to the public.”
612 Games also announced that all planned stretch goals will now be incorporated into the game at launch with several updates coming for Wild West Online following its launch.
Lastly, a Closed Beta will run for Wild West Online this Summer with no confirmed dates announced as of yet.
