Volition’s PS2 shooter classic Red Faction is now available on the PlayStation Store for download on PS4, THQ Nordic has announced.
Best known for its dynamic environmental destruction and use of the PS2’s dual stick controller, Red Faction originally released in 2001 for the PS2, with the classic title by Saints Row developer Volition now emulated and published on PS4 by THQ Nordic. It’s worth noting that Red Faction is not a remastered version of the game, but a port.
Red Faction saw players take control of a rebellious organisation in a fight against the Ultor Corporation on Mars. Featuring 20 levels including deep seas, natural caves, bases and more, Red Faction delivered on its promise of mass destruction with rocket launchers and heavy explosives to destroy areas of interest.
“Playing Red Faction for the first time is one of my favourite memories on ‘PlayStation 2’,” said Reinhard Pollice, Business and Product Development Director at THQ Nordic. “The team at THQ Nordic is thrilled to be able to share that experience with a whole new generation of players on ‘PlayStation 4’. Ripping a hole through the surface of Mars to access a hidden tunnel for a surprise takedown is about as satisfying as a shooter can get!”
Red Faction is available now for PS4 and will cost $14.99.
