Resident Evil 7 Ships 3.5 Million Copies, Dead Rising 4 Underperforms

Sales for Capcom’s first-person survival horror title Resident Evil 7 have hit the 3.5 million mark.

Arguably, the most definitive iteration to come from the franchise since 2005’s Resident Evil 4; Resident Evil 7 was met with a largely positive response following its release on January 24th for Xbox One, PS4 w/PSVR mode and PC. However, despite bold expectations from the publisher that the seventh main series title would sell 4m on day one, Resident Evil 7 has taken 3 months to reach 3.5 million units sold.

Although sales for Resident Evil 7 decidedly fell short of Capcom’s expectations, Dead Rising 4, on the other hand, has been a major disappointment for the developer and publisher with a timed launch on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC’s prior to a Steam release in March failing to reach high sales, currently below 1m units sold.

Resident Evil 7 is out now for Xbox One, PS4.
