After a lot of recent speculation and the odd tease, Ubisoft has officially confirmed a sequel to Beyond Good and Evil is currently in development by its Ubisoft Montpellier studio.
An update on the Beyond Good and Evil Facebook page reads “If you’ve been waiting for news about BG&E… well, here you go! We are delighted to confirm that Michel Ancel is currently working with the Ubisoft Montpellier Studio on a new Beyond Good & Evil game.”
Just last week Michel Ancel seemingly teased fans of the game by sharing a piece of concept art (seen below), sparking the speculation of a possible sequel, and with today’s statement, it would appear that production for Beyond Good and Evil 2 is officially underway.
Best known for creating the iconic Rayman series, Ancel also worked on 2003’s Beyond Good and Evil which released for Xbox, PS2, Xbox 360, PS3 and Gamecube with an average rating of 87/100 on Metacritic.
Ancel wasn’t through teasing a sequel though and earlier today took to Instagram to share another piece of concept artwork accompanied by the following words, “Endangered species – now saved – Game in pre-production – Stay tuned!”
Currently, it is unclear what platforms Beyond Good and Evil 2 will be available for when it releases.
