Xbox One’s GameDVR feature will soon receive a resolution boost with the next Xbox One user interface update.
Currently, Xbox One owners are only able to capture game footage at 720p, but with an incoming dashboard update will soon be able to save game clips in 1080p. The feature is currently available to test out for members of the Xbox Insider Program.
When the UI update rolls out, all Xbox One owners will be able to save their game clips at 1080p directly to the Xbox One’s hard drive or external drive, if you own one and are looking to save on space. However, despite the ability to record in 1080p, the frame-rate cap of 30FPS will remain locked after the update. The Xbox One X, on the other hand, will be the only console on the market to capture game footage at 60FPS in 1080p due to its additional processing power when it launches in November.
The Xbox One GameDVR feature allows players to capture in-game footage on their Xbox One, which can then be saved to the Xbox One, edited and shared via OneDrive.
