Following the discovery of a listing on the Taiwan PlayStation Network store, Sega has announced a remake of Yakuza 2, set to release in Japan on December 7th, 2017 for PS4.
The listing was found by NeoGAF user sinonobu, who noticed the game advertised on the Taiwanese PSN. The listing has now been confirmed by Sega and a video has since emerged, which you can view at the bottom of this article.
Yakuza 2 first debuted in Japan in 2006 before a western release in 2008 on PS2, the game was then re-released in Japan on the PS3 in 2012 before arriving on the Wii U in the same country the very next year. Translation of the early listing reveals that the remake of the second title in the Japanese mafia series will be powered by the Dragon Engine, which will also power Yakuza 6.
At the time of writing, there is no confirmation from Sega as to whether or not the remake will make its way to North America and Europe.
Yakuza Kiwami is set to release worldwide on August 29th, 2017 on PS4. Adam Wallace recently played and reviewed the remake and you can read his thoughts on it by following this LINK.
