Activision’s Call of Duty: WWII has scored a series record-equalling ninth consecutive week at No.1 in the UK all-format charts.
Following its worldwide release on November 3rd, 2017, Sledgehammer Games’ first-person World War II shooter has dominated sales in the UK and shows little signs of stopping anytime soon. With its ninth straight week at No.1, WWII draws level with 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for consecutive weeks spent at No.1, and if the latest entry in the popular series manages to hold on to the top spot for another 2 weeks it will equal Call of Duty: Black Ops III for weeks spent at No.1, although only 7 of Black Ops III‘s No.1’s were consecutive.
Below WWII there’s no movement in the top 5 as FIFA 18, Star Wars Battlefront II, Assassin’s Creed Origins and Grand Theft Auto V all remain at No.2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively. Elsewhere, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is up 10 places to No.10, Crash Bandicoot plummets 12 places from No.6 to No.18 after a surge in Christmas sales and Rockstar’s L.A Noire Remastered re-enters the top 20 at 18.
With no notable new entries to speak of in the last week of the year, attention now turns to 2018 with a host of blockbuster titles headed the way of players over the course of the next 12 months with God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Far Cry 5 all set to debut in 2018.
