Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro Confirmed for The Game Awards 2017

Could we be set to see more of mercurial developer Hideo Kojima’s mysterious Death Stranding this week at The Game Awards?

Aside from a rather bizarre announcement trailer featuring The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus and a couple big name attachments via another video in Mads Mikkelson and The Shape of the Water director Del Toro, we don’t know a great deal about Kojima Production’s debut title – Death Stranding.

Though nothing has been confirmed for Death Stranding itself at the awards specifically, both Kojima and Del Toro have been announced via The Game Awards Twitter account to present awards at the show taking place inside the Microsoft Center this coming week in California.

It’s worth pointing out that Kojima is, in fact, close friends with The Game Awards host and creator Geoff Keighley and so his appearance doesn’t come as much of a shock, but Del Toro appearing at the same time might just get the imagination juices flowing. Infamously, in 2015 Kojima was blocked from attending the awards ceremony by former employer Konami, and was subsequently unable to join in the celebrations as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain scooped 2 awards including Best Action/Adventure game.

The Game Awards has a habit of revealing new gameplay footage, so the idea of a Death Stranding reveal might not be so far-fetched, especially with Kojima and Del Toro both in attendance.

The Game Awards 2017 take place on December 7th at 17:30 PST from the Microsoft Center in California.

Better known as RzrsS in the video game scene, Stephan Rodts has been playing video games for nearly his entire life. He started out shooting poor ducks out of the sky in Duck Hunt on the Nintendo, but now shoots everything that moves. Be warned.
