Nintendo has announced that it sold 1.5 million Nintendo Switch units during the month of December in the US.
The news comes on the back of Microsoft’s announcement last week that the Xbox One had enjoyed its best ever month in December 2017, topping Sony’s PS4 for unit sales over the Christmas holidays.
The number of Nintendo Switch sales brings the overall figure to a cool 4.8 million in the US, which isn’t too bad considering the hybrid console only launched in March 2017.
There’s further good news for Nintendo too, who also announced figures for the 3DS, which sold 750,000 units in December, its best figures posted since December 2014.
Combined, Nintendo Switch, 3DS and SNES Mini sales account for more than half the hardware units sold throughout December, with a massive 2.6 million sold accumulatively over the holiday season.
Earlier this month, the Japanese electronics giant announced that the Nintendo Switch had become the fastest selling console in the US, surpassing Nintendo’s very own Wii in the process.
