Sales for Persona 5 on the PS4 and PS3 have passed 2 million worldwide, developer Atlus has announced.
Initially released in Japan in September 2016, JRPG Persona 5 finally made its worldwide debut back in April of this year to great critical response. “This has been an incredible year for our company, one that represents our ambitions for Japanese games in the west,” said Naoto Hiraoka, president & CEO of Atlus U.S.A., Inc.. “We are in the middle of experiencing tremendous growth, both in the west and abroad, and the sales of Persona 5 represent a new level of expectation for fans of the genre. Once seen as niche, Persona 5 is one of the most important titles this year, proving interest in this category is expanding. We look forward to delivering more incredible games to our fans next year.”
Following its worldwide launch in April 2017, Atlus announced that it had shipped 1.5 million copies of Persona 5 worldwide, meaning the game has sold a further 500,000 units in just under 8 months.
Persona 5 is out now on PS3 and PS4.
