While it’s been almost 7 years since we last saw a new entry in the explosive Red Faction series, players might soon be able to relive the glory of 2009’s Guerilla again on current generation consoles, if various retail listings are to be believed.
First spotted by PlayStation Trophies, listings for Red Faction: Guerrilla Remastered on Xbox One and PS4 have begun to surface on various Gamestop sites across Europe, most notably in Scandinavian countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.
At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation of the overhaul from IP owner THQ Nordic, who bought up the intellectual rights to Red Faction back in 2012 from THQ or Guerrilla‘s developer Volition and as such, we advise readers to take the information with a large pinch of salt.
Developed by the Saints Row studio, Red Faction Guerrilla released in June 2009 for Xbox 360 and PS3 before making its way onto PC in September of the same year. Guerrilla saw big changes to the series’ iconic gameplay with a switch from first-person to third-person perspective, allowing players the luxury of witnessing their chaotic destruction of the game’s landscape in a far better view.
The series was last seen in 2011 with Red Faction: Armageddon but was swiftly followed by the closure of publisher THQ, who was then acquired by Nordic.
