Sony Announces March Closure of Gran Turismo 6’s Online Services

Sony has announced that online services for Gran Turismo 6 on PS3 will cease on March 28th, 2018.

The move to shut down the online portion of Gran Turismo 6 follows quickly in the footsteps of Guerrilla Games’ Killzone 2 and after the recent announcement from the Horizon Zero Dawn developer that online services for both games will be decommissioned a day later on March 29th. The shutdown applies to both PS3 and GT6‘s Android and Apple iOS app GTA Track Path Editor which will take effect late March.

Whilst Gran Turismo 6 will still be playable offline after March 28th areas including community features, open lobby, quick match and seasonal events will all be affected, with players unable to share tracks online via the editor. Additionally, as of January 31st, players will no longer be able to purchase DLC content for Gran Turismo 6 ahead of the online service closure 2 months later.

Developed by Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo 6 launched in 2014 to critical success.
