Sony Removes Xbox One X Anthem E3 Footage With Photoshopped Buttons From PlayStation YT Channel

Sony has removed its controversial Anthem trailer featuring Xbox One X photoshopped button prompts from the official PlayStation YouTube channel.

To quickly re-cap. Sometime yesterday, gameplay footage emerged on the official PlayStation YouTube channel of BioWare’s Anthem.

The footage in question bore a great resemblance to the in-engine footage showcased by Microsoft during Xbox’s E3 Media Briefing on June 11th. The video, which has since been removed by Sony, featured poorly photoshopped PS4 buttons over the top of Xbox One X button prompts.

Though some viewers questioned the resemblance, other eagle-eyed viewers began noticing irregularities such as select frames in the video where the edit faded and both consoles prompts could clearly be seen at the same time, especially the PS4 button overlay.

Whilst it’s not uncommon for videos to feature swapped out button prompts if the quality is the same for both consoles, the video in question shows Anthem running on Xbox One X which is not wholly representative of what the PS4 Pro is capable of, and as a result, publishing the video could be perceived as very misleading.

Better known as RzrsS in the video game scene, Stephan Rodts has been playing video games for nearly his entire life. He started out shooting poor ducks out of the sky in Duck Hunt on the Nintendo, but now shoots everything that moves. Be warned.
