Vampyr’s Violent Combat Elements Detailed, New Screenshots Released

Today, Dontnod Entertainment released new details and screenshots exploring the fascinating combat elements that will feature in its action RPG – Vampyr, coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2017.

We learn that as the games protagonist – Jonathan Reid, players will face off against a number of different enemies throughout the flu-ridden streets of 1918’s London including vampire hunters, other vampires and mutated abominations. Armed with both melee and ranged weapons, Reid has a Blood Gauge which can be filled by attacking and dodging enemies, which in-turn allow the protagonist to unleash powerful vampire attacks.

Away from combat, players can feast on civilians to gain a significant XP boost, making future combat situations easier. However, giving in to Reid’s blood need comes at a cost with increased danger while prowling the darkened streets in addition to also having an impact on the games narrative with civilians becoming suspicious of Reid’s dark secret. Vampyr boasts an intriguing combat feature with players able to fight enemies out in the open, stalk their prey to find a weakness or avoid fights altogether. It’s all about player choice.

We also learn that players will be able to unlock a non-linear skill tree with all experience gained, offering the main character far deadlier attacks and special abilities which can be equipped in any order, allowing players to create their own archetypes to match different playstyles.

Vampyr releases in 2017 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
