Today, Xbox’s Major Nelson announced the newest additions to the Games With Gold program due out throughout the month of January.
First for Xbox One owners will be a new title in The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III that will have Xbox One X enhancements upon release. The final entry in a Diablo-esque, Victorian-era trilogy, players will take on terrifying beasts and a cult that seeks the end of the world. Originally released on PC in 2015, Van Helsing III will normally cost $15 and be available for the entire month of January.
The second Xbox One title available starting on January 16th is Zombi, a 1st-person survival game that originally was on the Wii U. In Zombi, players face a zombie apocalypse in London with a. unique permadeath system where old characters become your enemies. The Xbox One version removes the multiplayer functionality that was on the Wii U. Normally priced at $20, Zombi will be available until February 15th.
For the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One, a classic Lara Croft game will be made available from January 1st until January 15th. Tomb Raider Underworld sees Lara Croft discovering various artifacts from Norse mythology. Released in 2008, Lara will also face off against a doppelgänger. Tomb Raider Underworld was the last normal title before the reboot in 2013.
The final title for January 2018 for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One is the cooperative classic Army of Two. The online servers may be closed, but local co-op is still available. Players take on the roles of Salem and Rios, members of the 75th American Ranger Regiment. Together, players will support each other in a military-style campaign starting on January 16th.
Xbox has announced the Games With Gold, and you can be sure Sony will follow suit with their picks for PlayStation Plus soon. For now, Xbox owners can still download Warhammer 40K End Times – Vermintide, Back to the Future: 30th Anniversary, and Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death.
