According to Xbox Head of Games Marketing at Microsoft Aaron Greenberg, the Xbox One enjoyed a better month for unit sales than Sony’s PS4 during the month of December in the US.
Citing NPD data, which has yet to be released, Greenberg declared via Twitter that Microsoft had enjoyed its “highest Xbox One December console share ever” while confirming that the Xbox One had outsold the PS4 units in December.
Earlier this week, Sony announced that it had shifted 5.9 million PS4 units worldwide during the holidays, though it’s currently unclear what percentage of that figure can be solely attributed to US sales.
Greenberg also confirmed that neither Sony nor Microsoft had moved the most consoles throughout December, with that honour going to Nintendo and its hybrid console Switch, which sold more units than its two competitors over Christmas to take the hardware top spot once again.
We’ll have more for you regarding the NPD’s latest findings as and when it’s released.
