Investigative Horror Game Ghost Theory Switches Unity for CryEngine; Original Prototype Footage Released

Word of Dreadlocks’ investigative horror title Ghost Theory has been few and far between for some time now, but today, the developer shared a large update on the game and its progress to its Kickstarter backers.

First up, Ghost Theory is now be developed using Crytek’s CryEngine rather than its original game engine Unity, the change has pushed back development and the game’s subsequent release while the team continue to rework its previous work with Unity.

Funding has also been a problem for the developer. While money from Ghost Theory‘s Kickstarter campaign has kept the development train rolling, the money is beginning to dry up, with the studio currently working on smaller side projects to keep the cash flowing while it continues development of Ghost Theory.

When are we likely to see Ghost Theory released on PS4, PC and Xbox One? We could be looking at anywhere up to a year for the game to be finished with development, depending on available funds and size of the game and team, however, the studio was kind enough to share some prototype footage of the game running with Unity, which looks great!

Ghost Theory is an investigative horror title that takes place in multiple real-life haunted locations where players will make full use of paranormal equipment to find and capture ghosts.

Better known as RzrsS in the video game scene, Stephan Rodts has been playing video games for nearly his entire life. He started out shooting poor ducks out of the sky in Duck Hunt on the Nintendo, but now shoots everything that moves. Be warned.
